Happy Days....

So much has happened since I last posted....Cannon is now 5 months old and eating rice cereal like a big boy. He gets one tablespoon before bed and then I nurse him until he's almost asleep. Then, Daddy, puts him in his "Baby Carowinds" to bounce until he's tired! So far, this makes him sleep at least 6 hours or more!!! WOO-HOO since I am definitely feeling the lack of sleep. I've been thankfully busy these past few months with work and have two houses closing in JUNE!

He's only nursing five times a day since he gets some cereal at night, and this is a blessing! I feel like all I do when I'm at home is play, nurse, do some work around the house or real estate stuff while Cannon naps, and then the cycle starts again! He's taking two naps a day now--one in the late morning and one mid-afternoon. We got this really cool gazebo and try to get outside at least a few times a day to do some bird watching or if we're really lucky, our tree frog friends will come hang out on the side of the house! I hope Cannon loves frogs like I did as a child! The other evening, we helped a few get closer to some insects that were beside our back door! :) Cannon has no clue at what a crazy mommy he has...:)

Oh, this is too funny....today after Church, Cannon smelled like an old lady! I just knew that whoever held him during Sunday School was...let's say, a bit older--haha! When we got home, I said, "Cannon...did a grammy hold you in the nursery today??? (then I said....I meant did a GREAT-GRAMMY hold you today?:) At any rate, as long as they give him love, we don't care what he smells like! Pastor Jody has been doing this series on "The Vow" talking about marriage and it's really convicting me...Hopefully I will be a changed woman after this....One really cool thing he keeps repeating is...."God's word tells us to make the word, love, a verb at all times!" How true is this?!?!?! We are supposed to love, love, love by our actions and in all we say and do. This is my goal!

Our First Playdate at Betsy's

Having Fun...

Sallie, Anna, Mary Grace, Hannah and Cannon.....(Anna Kate is pictured inside Jessie's tummy.)

We had so much fun at our first playdate on Friday, April 17th....Cannon was able to meet Hannah for the first time and I think he likes her:) Betsy was so sweet to provide some goodies and it was really refreshing to be with the girls.

Cannon was the only "fella" there! Noah was only a week old, but he'll be at the next one, I'm sure! Price and Owen couldn't come either! Hopefully next time :)

Cannon's First Easter...

Cannon is drooling and has been for many weeks, so needless to say, his Easter outfit is covered up! At any rate, we had a nice Easter Sunday. Brian's mom and brother, Shane and sister in law, Brenda came over for Easter dinner. For the first time, we used my China that was my grandmother's! :)
Cannon brings us so much joy and he's got quite a personality...since I have to use that bulb to suck out the snot so often, we've made it into a game and he laughs when I use it! One of favorite books is the one he can eat....It's made out of cloth and crinkly stuff with pictures of animals on it. He loves taking a bath and I've found that it's easier to put him in the tub with me :) A little baby pee never hurt anyone...now, if he poops, we'll have to stop co-bathing!!!

Welcome Spring!

Cannon is 10 weeks! Wow, how time goes by too quickly! Thankfully, the warmer weather is here and we can put away the winter stuff! Sunshine is one of those amazingly wonderful "freebies" in life that God grants us!
This past weekend was fabulous, and we enjoyed it with my parents in North Augusta. Cannon and I enjoyed a walk through downtown North Augusta (where I used to jog back in the day...) He also enjoyed playing with Grammy and Poppa as well as with his cousins, Dylan and Shelby. He went to his cousin, Olivia's, 6th Birthday party as well. I must say he was the most handsome fella there! :)

Cannon at 7 Weeks

Who could not love this little one??? Cannon is the most precious gift and it's so hard for me to get anything done around the house muchless get myself together each day...I have to make such a conscious effort to to the simple things I used to do! The best solution for that is when I have to meet a client since that forces me to get a shower, do hair and my makeup!

Anytime Cannon's awake, I feel like I need to be talking or reading to him and when he finally goes to sleep, I have like an hour to do four hours worth of stuff--work on the computer, make phone calls/appointments, LAUNDRY, cleaning, and be a wife somewhere in between! Brian is so patient and he's very good with Cannon.

Okay, enough venting....Motherhood is one of the best gifts but it just takes us TYPE A personalities a bit longer to adjust!

Business....

It's been so busy around here yet it seems most days consist of nursing, changing diapers, playing with Cannon and holding and loving on him and finally putting him down to rest....the next thing I know, he's awake and we start all over again! Motherhood is an amazing gift and I pray I get better and better with time!

I have continuted to work and am thankful for that. Today, I showed houses for about five hours, and Daddy and Cannon had some bonding time. I really wish I could be a stay-at-home mom, but right now, we need my income so that's the way it goes....hopefully with time, I will be able to focus 100% on being a wife and mommy...

One thing I really need to work on is being more sociable with my sweet friends. It's so difficult though! I'm going to make a conscious effort to be a better friend and get more involved very soon! I definitely know that living out here in Chapin makes it difficult, but I don't see us moving away anytime soon.

Meeting More Friends...

On Tuesday, I got to meet one of mommy's good friends from high school, Miss Marianne and her daugher, Ella. We met at the Boll Weevil in Downtown Augusta. (Ella just turned a year and is going to have a baby brother or sister in September! ) CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Monday evening, I got to meet Sara Grace, Miss Kelly's daugher and Owen, Miss Ashley's son! We had fun, and Owen even got to taste one of my books! (I cannot wait until I can do that:)

Meeting my New Friends...

Today, Miss Julie and Anna (6 months) came by to meet me and brought dinner to Mommy and Daddy! I think Anna wanted to give me a kiss. :) Anna had on these really cute tights and Mommy didn't even have anything covering my legs! Luckily, it was warm outside. After they left, we went for a walk since it was such a nice day.

Miss Ashley and Ella (12 weeks) brought dinner to Mommy and Daddy last week! I was sleeping but Ella was wide awake! I cannot wait to get older so we can play together. (I hope I get as much hair as she has pretty soon because my head gets cold!)

Three Weeks old...

Bentley and Winston are doing so well with Cannon! They act like he's always been a part of our family. I'm so glad for this since we were extremely concerned about how the dogs would adjust to the new addition. Winston likes to cuddle under Cannon while I'm nursing and sometimes, I rest Cannon on top of Winston.

Daddy Fed me for the First Time!

Cannon had his first bottle last weekend....I was so scared but decided it was time to give it a try....I pump quite a bit so it was no problem....He did great and seems to like the Playtex nurser bottles. This was nice since Brian was able to feed him for the first time. Hopefully, I will get a break every now and then and Brian can have a chance to "bond and feed". Luckily, Cannon nurses very well and thankfully, I've not had any issues with breastfeeding. He definitely likes to eat every three hours BUT LAST NIGHT, he slept 5 hours!!! YIPPEE!!!

My First Bath

Cannon had his first bath this past week and yes...he was almost three weeks! It took an ENTIRE two weeks for the cord to fall off (and no, I didn't save it!) We were still giving him a sponge bath for a few days afterwards because there was a little piece that was still raw! As you can see, he enjoys being rubbed as enjoys the warm water! :) After this bath, we wend to see Dr. Bonnett and he weighed 9lbs 3.5 oz!!! WOW!

Nothing is More Precious...

Cannon is 19 days old today and we cannot believe it! As we were eating dinner, Brian and I were both saying how we cannot believe how big he's getting. He is nursing very well and I must say that he enjoys drinking, even though I have to keep bothering him to keep him awake. :) It's so precious to watch him each day and even more precious to hold and kiss him. I never knew I'd love someone so much!

Dr. Keeton, Cannon, and Me

Dr. Keeton, my OB-GYN was more than wonderful during the labor and delivery! She even encouraged Brian to stay in the delivery room when Cannon was entering the world! Brian took her advice and Dr. Keeton made arrangements to make Brian as comfy as possible--even giving him a "barf bag" just in case. Brian was the most supportive labor coach and at the end, he turned his chair to face the wall behind me so he could stay in the room and encourage me, hold my hand, push the hair off of my face and ultimately be there when our son took his first breath.

Welcome to the World!

Our Little Glow Worm....

The funny thing about the "Bili-Bee" was that he looked like a little glow worm! We think he liked wearing it since is gave off some warmth. It was a little bit difficult burping him but it is a wonderful invention! It was portable, too, which meant he could literally be on it 24/7 so the jaundice would clear up as quickly as possible. Andy, the man that brought it to our house was a true Godsend. He talked with Brian, my mom, and I very calmly and even prayed for Cannon before he left. He said that his three young children ask him every day..."Daddy, how many babies did you help today?" At any rate, we know that God was in total control during those scary days and He is in control now!

First Day on the Job with Mommy...

Cannon went to work with me this past Wednesday (he was 12 days old) so he could meet some of the special people in my office that love him so much! I made sure no one was sick though. I dressed him in this precious outfit that Lauren gave to him. Brian's Aunt and cousin gave Cannon these precious shoes!

Cannon's Arrival....

I cannot put my fingers on the words to adequately express the feelings that Brian and I have for our son.....God has richly blessed us beyone belief! Every time I look at Cannon, I am in awe and keep thanking our Heavenly Father for this little blessing and want to cherish every minute with him!

William Cannon arrived on Friday January 9th at 6:39 pm. He was 20 .5 inches long and 7 lbs. 15oz. Praise God that he is healthy! He had to wear a Biliruben light for his jaundice for three days right after we came home, and Brian and I were really scared. Plus, we had to take him to get his heel pricked each time (which broke our hearts!) Thankfully, it's all cleared up now!
